Released last week in UP (near Lucknow), Mermaid Studios Acting Ka Bhoot (UA) is about two con artists, Akki (Aham Sharma) and Geetu (Rajni Katiyar). They fall in love with each other, even though they try to outsmart each other.

Abhishek Shashi Kumar has written a routine story with an emphasis on comedy. Kumar’s screenplay has a few entertaining scenes, but overall there’s little drama masala. Abhishek Shashi Kumar’s dialogues are ordinary.

Aham Sharma looks quite handsome and does a decent job as Akki. Rajni Katiyar is average as Geetu. Ishtiyak Khan offers decent support. Saanand Verma is doing well. Anil Rastogi, Lilliput and the others will do.

Shashank Kumar’s direction is boring. Kashi-Richard’s music and Kashi Kashyap and Mukesh Mishra’s lyrics are functional. Abhishek Dutt’s choreography is weak. Background music (by Suraj) lacks impact. Bharani Kannan’s camera work is routine. Deepak Ambawadekar’s art direction hardly deserves a separate mention. The editing (Vinay Pandey and Sadhu Baijnath) leaves a lot to be desired.

Altogether, Acting Ka Bhoot is a flop show.
